We are very selective about the companies we work with and the products we integrate. We do not take our clients needs for granted and quite frankly, we do not like trouble shooting failing equipment. As great as a sunny day!
An all around great experience. The professionalism and expertise of RED Group is outstanding! From the initial consultation to the many follow up questions I had they were very responsive. The work was done exactly as we planned and in the time predicted. My savings have even been a little above what they projected. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again in the future.
The Renewable Energy Design Group has been very good to work with. We received excellent service at the time of installation and follow-up and support has been wonderful. I highly recommend this group for all your solar needs.
Great to work with!
Renewable Energy Group designed and implemented a solar panel configuration at our residence. It was a large residential installation (30 panels). Everyone that we worked with at Renewable Energy Group was attentive to our needs and very professional. In fact, they were all just plain nice! They did a thorough job explaining the technical aspects of installing solar panels, and they were accurate about the resulting energy savings. The installation was efficient, and the work area was left clean at the end of the job. We are very happy with our solar panels and are the envy of our friends and neighbors!
So much more than a basic installer.
There are plenty of companies out there that can throw up a bunch of solar panels on your roof and call it a day They'll get the job done and be out of your hair in no time. Will they spend the time making sure they give you exactly the best system for your needs? Probably not. They want to get in and out quickly. Will the person that does your initial assessment have a thorough understanding of all the options available as well as the regulations and incentives to help you make the best decision? Not in my experience. Will they save you lots of money because of the volume they do? No way. I had most of the solar installers in the area do an assessment for us. None were as knowledgeable and passionate about the solar industry as RED Group. You're dealing with a small family owned local business that wants to build a relationship with you rather than drop in to do a service and get out as quickly as possible. They'll give you completely unvarnished advice and work with you to make the best decisions for your specific needs. I'm an Electrical Engineer by day, so when I had very specific questions about solar installations, Jeff and RED group were the only local installers that could answer my questions and were excited to do so. When I had questions about my mid-life roof, RED gave me very honest input and options helping me decide to replace our roof before doing solar. That delayed any business they got from me, but it resulted in a much happier customer in the long run since I shouldn't have to touch my panels for 20 years. Most of the other installers sent out someone that knew less about solar than I did and had no experience evaluating roofs or the longevity of a system. One final thought: The quotes I received from some of the bigger solar installers in the area were all higher than RED Group in case that's a factor to you. Honestly with the level of service they provide I would expect them to be the high bidder, but that just wasn't the case. For our system they were the low bidder and provided by far the best customer service.
RED Group - you can't beat them!
RED Group installed a 5.4 kw system for my home. They did an awesome job and were very willing to accommodate my schedule to be available for final hookup at my house. The system is working properly and the installers were courteous and friendly. Christian, who was the leader on-site for installation, was very knowledgeable and found the most non-intrusive route both through my yard (navigating a septic field) and wiring into my home. Jeff, the owner, took care of issues with the local planning department and went to the County Board of Commissioners to help push through an amendment to local rules to enable homeowners in our county more flexibility in obtaining residential solar power. I would recommend to you (if it is affordable and doable) and to RED Group to hardwire with ethernet from the system's box to your router to avoid issues with wi-fi if you want to see how your system is producing. Not a big deal and not important to the bottom line, but it is cool. Overall, the experience was good, the system is working great (though the lack of sun recently hasn't been helpful!) and I highly recommend RED Group for your residential solar needs.
I am very satisfied with the whole process. Christian was great to work with, very polite and professional. The installation went very smoothly, they used top of the line panels and equipment. I have recieved many compliments on the installation. RED group did such a good job installing everything it is hard to even see the solar panels from the road. The electircal was hooked up very neatly as well. This is a great company to use for a solar system. They beat the competitions' price by a large margin. After installation I was confused on how the net metering would work and they helped me get together with Duke and helped me understand how it works.
Jeff Red wine did the majority of work on my solar system. I was impressed by his careful and clear presentation of the options and costs available and that he didn't try to "sell" me on any particular setup. He only offered recommendations when I requested them, pointing out pros and cons for each system. The finished product was installed at the promised price. Now in its third year, my solar has preformed according to estimates. All in all, I'm quite satisfied.
I was very happy with REDgroup. They put in 20 solar panels for us. We developed a problem with one of the panels, and they quickly came out and replaced it.
REDgroup as our installer
Jeff was very very helpful with the selection and the process. His Team was on time and on site when they said they would be. If weather caused a delay, I was informed and provided a new date and time. The Team handle all the the documentation and calls to the County and Electrical company. The documentation for me was great, easy to read and in a book so handy to keep up with. Support was available when I had questions. I would highly recommend REDgroup for any of your renewable energy needs.
Jeff was very professional and courteous and I would recommend him highly for anyone who was interested in installing a solar solution for their house or office.
They made it easy
I've been interested in Solar for a long time. Through NC warn, I met Jefff Redwine of Renewable Energy Design (RED) Group. He came out to my house and we discussed adding solar to my house. He made the process easy to understand, measured my roof and did sun measurements. He later presented me with two options for solar array installation. Jeff was always available to answer questions, to educate me on the installation process, and operation of the system. The installation went quickly and REDgroup took care of all the inspections and tie-in to the grid. They kept me updated on all aspects of the install from start to finish. I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone interested in solar.
Rooftop solar with RED Group one of the best decisions ever
The RED team was professional, focused and completely dedicated to smooth system commissioning. The most critical matter we faced was tree shade. RED worked with the arborist to selectively trim in a way that minimized heat load on the side of the house but kept shade off the system. We are well into our second year of operations and seeing 6% ROI, tax-free, under a conservative calculation model. We are happy.
Every aspect of the experience was professional and of the highest quality.
Not only did REDGroup beat it's closest competitor by 67% in price for the exact same size solar system, they worked with me to design an affordable product that could be added to in the future as my finances would allow. They installed the highest quality equipment in the most aesthetically appealing manner, which complements the appearance of my house more than I could have ever imagined. They were honest in advising me to re-roof the area in which the panels were to be installed, which speaks volumes to the character of this company and their employees. They explained every aspect of the products and how the system works. Not only would I recommend this company, I plan to have them expand panels on my primary home and I plan to have them install solar panels on my second beach home. Absolutely top notch all the way around.
Good service, responsive and friendly.
There was a design mistake, but they quickly corrected it. The only thing we are not too happy about is they didn't explain how the utility company calculate the energy usage. It turns out that even if our solar panels produced more watts than we consumed, we still have to pay the utility company around $50 per month. It's almost like we put up the capital to help the utility company to make money on us!
RED Group installed 30 panels with optimizers, 2 Schneider inverters, 2 Schneider charge controllers, battery monitor, large battery bank (24), etc., plus pulled the wires from my main electrical panel into a newly installed breaker panel. Christian was great and obviously very experienced with installations. I learned that he has installed systems around the world. I'm very happy with my Schneider components and the Q Cells - I was glad to get quality components in addition to quality installation. One thing I've learned with solar quotes is it's important to understand the quality of the components you'll be getting and especially the phone support from the manufacturers. I've called with various questions probably 10 times in the past 6 months and have gotten great support. When there's a grid fault or some other event, you need quick support and verification that your settings are correct, so its important to factor that in when evaluating / comparing quotes. The guys worked safe, which was important to me, and cleaned up. I've had my system almost 6 months and everything is good. I would do it again with RED Group, which is probably the most telling comment I can give.
Great job, pleasant people, highly professional!
When we first had contacted REDgroup about a solar installation, a friend was exploring solar options for his home as well - with a different installer. We compared notes, and had several questions for REDgroup about the product and the process. They got back to us promptly and with satisfactory answers that gave us the impression that (a) they valued our business; (b) they knew what they were doing; and (c) they used high-quality products. For many reasons we decided to go with REDgroup instead of the other company, and were very happy we did. Installation was smooth and efficient, Then they advocated for us when Duke Power took their time in getting out for our final inspection. We were up and running months before our friend's installation was complete. We've enjoyed seeing the savings as our electric bills come in!
Great job- very helpful and thorough
Installed approximately 4kw grid-tie system last year and so far working as predicted. RED Group was super to work with. Very helpful coming up with the right design that fit our budget and a did a very neat job on the install as well as handled the utility hookup. Very dependable- always showed up when they said they would and did what they promised. Their price was one of the lower bids we got for our project so we feel like we got a good value. Overall very pleased and definitely would recommend to others.
Incredible service! Kept me up to date all the time, very friendly, very educational
I learned a LOT from RED: I still navigate to the web page that shows my daily curve of power generation, for example. All the team members were very friendly, and honest, too: I was never oversold, but instead, they explained exactly the best configuration for our roof. Recommended!
Top quality service, professional and friendly.
The RED Group was very helpful and knowledgeable. They answered all our questions no matter how silly they sounded. They gave us a timeline and kept to it. The crew kept our yard clean and answered any questions we had. The RED Group is a great company to work with. I urge anyone interested in solar give them a call.
Exceptional People at RED
We got our project completed at our home in November of 2014 and it was done exactly per the specifications and the prices that were negotiated. Christian Lofton was on top of his game and Ms. Cynthia Redwine followed through on all of the contractual items that were negotiated. She also helped us with the tax credit oriented paperwork for Federal and NC State tax credits. Furthermore, she helped us negotiate with the local utility on timetables and responsibilities, etc. The subcontractors hired by RED were extremely professional and Christian also set up the home equipment to monitor the usage on a per panel basis. To summarize, a very professional team and a pleasure to do business with.
We got solar panels through RED two years ago and loved the experience. Jeff, Cynthia, and Christian were all very thorough when explaining how the panels work and walked us through the process with Duke Energy. They answered all of our questions promptly-sometimes within minutes-and were always extremely patient with us, no matter how crazy the question might have been.Onsite with the skilled crew for instillation as well! And worked within our limited time schedule. After instillation, they followed up with us and came out to check on the panels to make sure they were working properly. We highly recommend RED Group and hope to use them again some day.
Great solar installation
I've been wanting to add solar power for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. Jeff Redwine at Renewable Energy Design Group clearly knew his stuff and made me feel assured that I would get a great system (with about 40 panels!). His price was competitive with others I received, and he put in a terrific system. He and his colleagues were caring and considerate in their work and follow through. If I had to do it over, I would surely choose them again.
RED Group met all their commitments. The installation began on time, finished on time, and was neatly and professionally handled. More important, however, is that my system is outperforming RED Group's estimate. I was told to expect I'd generate about one-third of my electrical power. Instead, after one year, I'm generating 45%-50% of my needs. I am pleased with RED Group's performance and products.
